CONGRATULATIONS, GRADUATES!

On behalf of the Committee on Ceremonial Occasions, we want to congratulate you on your upcoming Commencement.
We are working towards making this year’s Commencement super exciting, dynamic and interactive...and featuring you! In order to truly integrate each graduate, we are asking you to please take a few minutes to send us some footage of you in your academic attire.

   PART 1 - GUIDELINES  

Watch the video above

  1. Make sure you are dressed in your Academic Attire including your hood. Your tassel should be positioned on the left side.
  2. If you live with someone else, ask them to help you set up the camera.
  3. Position yourself standing in front of a background that isn’t very busy (white wall is great).
  4. Use a phone camera rather than a laptop. Place your phone horizontally.
  5. Use the rear camera on your phone if possible (not selfie camera).
  6. Have your phone on a tripod or a steady table (you might need to stack books so that it’s at the appropriate height). Ideally, it should not be handheld.
  7. Look at the camera with a smile for 5 seconds before and after every element. This helps tremendously with editing.
  8. Your framing should look like below:

 PART 2 - COMPONENTS  

Items 1-3 are required. 4-7 are welcome additions. (Each item should be sent as its own video).

Still Photo Portrait

  • Take a still photo of yourself smiling at the camera.

Smile Video

  • Look at the camera and smile for 10 seconds (it may feel long, but that is ok).
  • Feel free to move your head gently to make your clip feel dynamic.

3. Hooding Moment

  • Look at the camera and place the hood over your shoulders.
  • Ideally, please have one or more people assist with the hooding.

4. Applause Video

  • Look at the camera and applaud for 10 seconds.

5. Hug a Loved One Video

  • Start a few feet apart.
  • Come together in an embrace in the center of the screen.
  • Hug for 5 seconds.

6. Reactions Video

  • Look at the camera and laugh.
  • Look at the camera and cry.
  • Look at the camera and react however you’d like!

7. Be Creative!
