Director of the Wilf Campus (formerly Yeshiva College) Writing Center since 1997, Professor Lauren Fitzgerald has prepared hundreds of student tutors and dozens of faculty consultants to work with thousands of writers from the YU community—students, faculty, staff, and alumni. In the YC English department, she teaches courses on academic writing, digital and multimodal composing, writing research and pedagogy, Romantic-period British literature, the history of authorship, and the English language as a global phenomenon.

Professor Fitzgerald received the 2010 Council of Editors of Learned Journals’ Phoenix Award for Significant Editorial Achievement, a 2012 Dr. Kenneth Chelst Book Grant at Yeshiva College, a 2017-18 Chelst, Schreiber, and Zwas YC Book Fund Award, and the 2020 Ron Maxwell Award for Distinguished Leadership in Promoting Collaborative Learning Practices of Peer Tutors in Writing.

Along with journal articles and book chapters, Professor Fitzgerald has published The Oxford Guide for Writing Tutors: Practice and Research (2015), and with her coauthor, Professor Melissa Ianetta of the University of Delaware, edited The Writing Center Journal (2008-13).
