Rabbi Yehuda Halpert received rabbinical ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) in 2004 and he currently serves as the Rabbi of Congregation Ahavat Shalom in Teaneck, NJ, a role he has held since the congregation first took on a Rabbi in 2008.

 

Rabbi Yehuda Halpert is also a practicing attorney and functions as a tax counsel in the New York office of Debevoise & Plimpton, LLP where he serves as a member of the Investment Management and Private Equity Groups as well as a member of the Private Fund Transactions Group. His practice focuses on the representation of investors in connection with the tax and economic aspects of their primary private equity investments, including U.S. and non-U.S. buyout, growth capital, infrastructure and hedge fund investments. He also advises clients in connection with secondary transactions, including traditional sales and purchases of fund interests, “stapled” primary and secondary transactions as well as complex secondary transactions including fund restructurings, recapitalizations and GP-led tender offers.


Yehuda’s clients include HarbourVest Partners, Pantheon Ventures, Stepstone Group, Ford Foundation, Nature Conservancy, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Prudential Insurance Company , Lightspeed Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital as well as Canadian, Middle Eastern and Asian sovereign wealth funds and family offices.


Yehuda received a J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2000, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Yeshiva University in 1997.
