On October 31, 2016 the Yeshiva University Center for Israel Studies hosted a conference on the works and influence of Nobel Prize-winning Israeli author S.Y. Agnon in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of his award.

The lectures situate Agnon’s work in the context of his birthplace in Buchach, his adopted home in Jerusalem during the British mandate and early Israel, and the literary culture of his time.

Museum Exhibitions

Exhibitions are an important way of bringing YU scholarship to a wide audience. The CIS has co-sponsored a wide array of Yeshiva University Museum exhibitions and is involved in outside projects at major New York institutions:

The CIS collaborated on Byzantium and Islam: Age of Transition, 600-900, a major exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in March to July 2012.  We were co-sponsors to the exhibition symposium.
