Andrew B. Kraebel of Yale University, an authority on medieval Christian Bible interpretation, will be speaking on Thursday, October 25th at 8pm, preceded by a dinner with students and faculty. His lecture title: “How Did Rashi’s Christian Neighbors Interpret the Bible?”

Meir Bar-Asher of the The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an authority on Shiite Islam and Qur’an interpretation, will be speaking on Monday, December 10th at 8pm, preceded by a dinner with students and faculty. His lecture title: “Saadia Gaon on the Bible in Light of Muslim Interpretation of the Qur’an.”
Both of these scholars participated in the 14-member international research project “Encountering Scripture in Overlapping Cultures: Early Jewish, Christian and Muslim Strategies of Reading and Their Contemporary Implications” directed by Revel Associate Dean Mordechai Cohen at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Jerusalem in 2010/11.
