Varsity Hockey Lions Lose a Couple of Nail Biters

by Elie Burg ('18) and Noam Josse ('17) On Saturday night, the Varsity Lions took on the Ramaz Rams in the Lions' Den. Looking to continue their winning ways, the Lions played hard, but after the first five minutes found themselves in a 2-0 hole. The Lions looked to regain control with a goal from Yitzy Weiss ('17). However, the Rams answered back and at the end of the second period the score was 3-1. After a hard fought period the Lions were able to answer with a goal from Reuven Penn ('17). But despite their best efforts the Lions were not able to overcome their early deficit and lost by a score of 3-2. Trying to comeback from their loss to Ramaz, the Varsity hockey team traveled to JEC to take on the Thunder on Tuesday. Early in the second period MTA took the lead with a goal from Zachary Borgen ('17). However, JEC answered quickly to tie the game. The game remained tied through the rest of the second period, until JEC was able to find the back of the net with minutes remaining in the game. The final score was 3-1, after JEC tallied an empty-netter.
