YU Admissions Presents to Seniors

8d8fea7d-0a40-4587-b6dc-2e5284707624 Yeshiva University's Associate Director of Admissions and MTA alumnus, Mr. Ari Greene ('93), joined our seniors for lunch on Thursday, September 15th, to update us on news from YU and answer questions about the admissions process. While Mr. Greene stressed that the best reason to consider YU is its Torah U'Madda combination of excellent Torah and strong academic offerings, he offered a number of additional reasons that many seniors were unaware of. Perhaps most impressively, Mr. Greene pointed out the outstanding record of placement YU enjoys among its graduating seniors. He said that over 94% of YU graduates are employed or in graduate school within 6 months of graduation. That's twice the national average. He gave credit for this to YU's Career Development Center, that finds internships and other placements for YU students, and to YU's alumni network, that includes many business people in influential positions who want to help open doors for YU students. He advised the students to make sure, if they do choose to continue on to the college, to go over to the Career Development Center as soon as they start. Mr. Greene also updated the seniors on changes in the admissions process at YU, both for regular admission and Honors admission. YU has raised its standards regarding the SAT, so that those who took the new SAT must score an 1170 or better. Regarding Honors, the 1400 SAT and 90 average are no longer required to apply, but an applicant cannot be more than a little bit below those marks and must compensate by being outstanding in other respects to be invited for an Honors Day and to compete for the top academic scholarship of $25,000. Up next, this Sunday, seniors are invited to YU to sample a "Taste of YU Student Life," followed by YU Open House on November 20th.
