Care Café Making the New Year Brighter

Logos of Care Cafe and Island School The Wurzweiler School of Social Work’s Care Café is helping make the New Year a little brighter for families at PS 188, the Island School. Located on the Lower East Side, The Island School serves approximately 480 families who are low income and in major need of assistance. Many of these families have been displaced and continue to struggle with many adversities. Dr. Laurie Blackman, who coordinates the Care Café, is reaching out to the YU community to help these families deal with their severe financial challenges so that they can have a brighter 2020. “We ask for your help with providing donations in the form of gift cards or household supplies for these hundreds of families. Please provide your products, gift cards or monetary donations by January 31, 2020.” Donations can be brought to Belfer Hall Room 925 or delivered to The Wurzweiler School of Social Work, 2495 Amsterdam Avenue, Belfer Hall Room 925, New York, NY 10033. To make it easier, Wurzweiler has provided a shopping list. For additional questions, please contact Dr. Blackman at laurie.blackman@yu.edu. Thank you for your support!
