The Azrieli Foundation donated $18 Million to Yeshiva University at the 95th Annual Hanukkah Dinner and Convocation.

Students, staff members and roshei yeshiva [deans] participated in the various siyumim [gatherings celebrating the completion of a unit of Torah study] occurring in the United States and Israel.

• Yeshiva University reached out to offer comfort and counseling after the shootings in Jersey City, New Jersey, on Dec. 10.
• The Center for the Jewish Future held a conference call for rabbis on “Chizuk [Support] for Leading through a Period of Increased Anti-Semitism.”
• Dr. Noam Wasserman, dean of Sy Syms, will lead a Founder’s Bootcamp in the Startup Nation of Israel.
• The first cohort of students in the Katz School’s MS in Biotechnology Management and Entrepreneurship presented their capstone projects.
• Dr. Noam Wasserman was a keynote speaker at TribeWorks 2.0., a one-day educational and networking event for Jewish entrepreneurs.
• For the last five years, Dr. William Salton and Dr. Carl Auerbach have trained Ferkauf graduate students to work with political asylum seekers.
• The Stern College Computer Club ran an Hour of Code “coding clinic” in conjunction with the Stern College computer science department.
• The YU Career Center hosted the “What is Wall Street?” networking event about alternate careers in the finance industry.
• Wurzweiler’s Care Café is soliciting support throughout January for the Island School on the Lower East Side.
• In “Real Estate Speed Networking,” the YU Career Center brought together students and industry professionals.
• In “Parisian Views,” students applied a 19th-century Parisian aesthetic to Instagram photos of New York City.
• “Names, Not Numbers,” a documentary project about Holocaust survivors, will receive its world premiere in Florida.
• The YU Library has rolled out the first of its Digital Collections: 125 images from the early years of Stern College.
• Miri Yoskoswitz, partner at KPMG Israel, counseled Stern College and Sy Syms women on a balanced worklife.
• YU Museum’s Department of Education created “The Garment Factory Workshop,” a professional development program for high school teachers.
• Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik, director of the Straus Center, spoke about the Rohr Family Edition of the Koren Mikraot HaDorot released by Koren Publishers.
• Sivan Rahav Meir spoke about the “Eight Paths to Illumination” at a Chanukah event hosted by Central, the Straus Center and YIJE.
• Julie Golding, doctoral fellow at the Azrieli Graduate School, arranged for the halachic burial of Holocaust victims killed 80 years ago.
• Starting in the fall of 2020, the Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies will be offering new Tanach and Halacha tracks.
• Always encouraged to give back, our students have been volunteering for many chessed [charity] programs to help those in need.
