Students are back, and the academic year is underway! I hope you all had a restful and restorative summer.

Before settling in for the Chaggim, I hope you will take a few minutes to check out – and register – for some of the upcoming alumni engagement opportunities on tap for the year.

Real Estate Day 2026 registration is open, women’s learning is happening every month, and the alumni team is visiting south Florida and Stamford, CT.

Alumni Women’s Learning at the Shenk Shul: Come join us on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. for women’s learning with Rabbi Ozzi Fine during the Yamim Nora’im. Light refreshments served. The event is free and co-sponsored by the YU Office of Alumni Affairs and the Shenk Shul Women’s Learning Committee. Open Beit Midrash at 7:30 p.m., Rabbi Fine at 8 p.m. RSVP required»

Real Estate Day Returns: Join us for Real Estate Day 2026, on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026, from 12 to 6:30 p.m. This is your annual opportunity to engage with titans of the industry and network with the people you need to know, all within the YU fold. There will be special discounts for those registering by Sept. 10 (Discount Code: EarlyBird). Young alumni and army veterans (U.S. and IDF) are also eligible for special discounts. This event will sell out, so register now — don't wait to save your spot.

Rosh Chodesh Recharge — Save the Date: Join us on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, for the kickoff of our bimonthly online shiur series for women: The Rosh Chodesh ReCharge! The YU Office of Alumni Affairs and the Department of Women's Undergraduate Torah Studies are excited to bring you another season of invigorating Rosh Chodesh shiur from an array of phenomenal Torah speakers and educators. Registration information coming soon.


Event Highlights

The Young Alumni Summer Barbeque in the Heights was a huge success! Almost 50 Young alumni turned out despite the rain for hamburgers, hot dogs, games and a really good time. Check out the photos»


2027 Reunions

Reunions for the classes of 1967, 1977 and 2002 will be held at commencement on Thursday, May 27, 2027. If you want to help us plan the event, contact us at alumni@yu.edu.


Class Notes

Sons Jay Barbalatt '81YUHS, '85YC, '88C and Rabbi Jerry Barbalatt '83YUHS, '87YC, '91C; daughter-in-law Reva Barbalatt; daughter Cindy Frankel '95W and son-in-law David Frankel; and daughter Esther Rosenblum and son-in-law Yehuda Rosenblum '00SB mourn the passing of Frances Barbalatt, of blessed memory, beloved wife of Rabbi Cantor David Barbalatt z"l (CCA/BSJM, Board of Directors).

  • Submit a Class Note: Share a simcha, mazel tov, life event or even (G-d forbid) a loss with the alumni community.
