Mission

The Senator Joseph Lieberman–Mitzner Center for Public Service and Advocacy prepares a selective cohort of driven and principled students for a life in civil service, while also empowering the broader student body to become civically aware, informed, and engaged. Inspired by Senator Joseph Lieberman (z”l), the Lieberman–Mitzner Center instills in its scholars the belief that Jewish life and public service are inherently aligned, and calls on students to serve their communities and country with integrity, humility, and purpose.

The Senator Joseph Lieberman–Mitzner Center for Public Service and Advocacy envisions a new generation of leaders who strengthen American democracy and Western values through civil discourse, bipartisanship, and thoughtful centrism. Scholars engage constructively across ideological divides, intern in meaningful policy areas, and learn from leaders of the United States government, the American Jewish community, Israel, and beyond.

Lieberman-Mitzner Scholars attend 2025 Republican Jewish Coalition Annual Leadership Summit in Las Vegas

Our Lieberman-Mitzner Scholars traveled to Las Vegas for the Republican Jewish Coalition Annual Leadership Summit (Oct. 31–Nov. 2, 2025) — an inspiring gathering connecting the Jewish community with leading Republican policymakers.

Students heard directly from top national figures including Speaker Mike Johnson, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Senator Lindsey Graham, Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon, and “The Great One” American broadcaster Mark Levin, among many others.

Beverly Hills Mayor Dr. Sharona Nazarian Visits YU

Dr. Nazarian is the first Iranian-American woman to be mayor of Beverly Hills and the first Jewish Iranian-American woman to be mayor of any U.S. city.
