College Bowl Team Competes at Westchester

by Joseph Friedman ('18) Last Monday, the MTA College Bowl Team reconvened for another riveting set of matches. Hosted by Westchester, they participated in the fast paced trivia competition hoping to improve their ranking. The Junior Varsity's first match was against Ramaz, a formidable opponent. After finishing the first half of the game with a slight disadvantage, Ramaz managed to surprise our star players and eke out a win for the embattled team. Never one to give up, the Lions looked to redeem themselves against SAR. After a close nail biter led to over-time, MTA managed to triumph thanks to the quick thinking of JV captain Baruch Schwartz ('18). Although the loss to Ramaz was disheartening, there is still a chance for the team to win the division. The Varsity team did not fare as well, losing the first two matches to the strongest teams in the league. Looking for redemption, MTA waited anxiously for the third and final match against Magen David only to discover, to their dismay, that Magen David had declined to attend; they did earn the technical win due to forfeit.
