by Jonathan Felman ('17) In a week with two games on the scedule, the MTA Lions Varsity Hockey Team rolled to a solid win against Solomon Shechter on Monday night. After going into the locker room at the conclusion of the first period with a 1-0 lead, the Lions kept up their good work. This win put the Lions record at 4-4, in position for a strong playoff push. On Wednesday, the team traveled to Deal to take on the Hillel Heat in an attempt to raise their record above the .500 mark. After a barrage of shots in the first period, the Lions were up 2-0. Continuing the offensive attack, the Lions dominated offensively and again benefited from superior goaltending. Goals were scored by Gabe Isaacs ('18), Zack Borgen ('17), Yaakov Bienstock ('18), and it was all topped off by 2 goals from Elazar Mermelstein ('17). The Lions came away with a strong win by the final score of 5-0. The SAR Sting will be visiting the Lion's Den this coming Monday, giving the Lions an opportunity to avenge a loss earlier this season.
