Congratulations to Asher Finkelstein upon being named a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist. About 1.5 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, the PSAT's. There are only 16,000 semi-finalists and they now have the opportunity to continue in the Merit Scholarship competition in the hope of advancing to finalist standing. This places Asher among the top 2% of all of last years' PSAT test takers, and we are optimistic that he will advance to Finalist status in the Spring.
Congratulations are also due to the students pictured above, Yitzchak Fishbach, Yisrael Friedenberg, Zvi Goldstein, David Orlow and Yehuda Tager, upon being named Commended Students in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. About 34,000 Commended Students nationwide are being recognized for their academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2015 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the 2013 PSAT Qualifying Exam.
