"Names, Not Numbers" Holds Opening Meeting

 

On Thursday, our unique Holocaust remembrance and documentary program, "Names, Not Numbers," now in its ninth year at MTA, held its opening session. The program is centered around Holocaust education, and more specifically, the process of interviewing and videotaping a Holocaust survivor sharing his or her first-hand stories. Group of students are assigned to learn the history and experiences of a given survivor, so as to better understand him or her on a more personal level during the interview process, which they are trained in by a professional journalist. The students then learn how to edit their filmed work in the Yeshiva University film labs. The resulting video is subsequently shown at our annual "Names, Not Numbers" dinner at the end of the year, and is ultimately archived at Yad Vashem in Yerushalayim and at the YU Museum.
