Annual MTA Parent-Son Melave Malkah

by Avi Weschler ('14)
This past Motzei Shabbos, MTA hosted its annual yeshiva-wide Malave Malkah. This year the classic formula was slightly modified. First, an exceptionalshiur was given in the Beis Medrash by YU Rosh Yeshiva Rav Mordechai Willig on the topic of having an extra month of Adar, using source-sheets which the boys prepared from with their parents in advance of the shiur.  Shortly thereafter everyone was invited to the MTA lunchroom for MTA's first ever parent-sonkumzits. The usually spacious and well lit room was transformed into a cozy, low-light environment. It was perfect for the kumzits to follow.
Led by Rav Willig himself and MTA's own Rabbi Tanchum Cohen on the guitars, everyone present joined the singing, and the feelings of achdus and warmth in the room were tremendous. To cap off the kumzits, one of the visiting Makor Chaim boys from Eretz Yisrael made a siyum on Gemara Seder Moed and lively dancing followed. The night ended on a high note with delicious food from Carlos and Gabby's. Thank you to all who participated in the wonderful event, and to Rabbi Taubes, Rabbi Green and all who prepared it.
