A Senior's Recollection of Camp Monroe

Ari Wallach ('15) looks back on the amazing Lag B'Omer trip to Camp Monroe. Last Thursday, MTA traveled to Camp Monroe, a popular sleep away camp, for the annual school Lag B’Omer trip – an all-day excursion that offers guaranteed camaraderie and fun. A variety of different sports were offered, including basketball, football, hockey, soccer, softball, volleyball and Quidditch. Lunch was a veritable feast, with hotdogs, hamburgers and grilled vegetables on the menu. After lunch, the faculty took on the Varsity softball team in a spirited and exciting matchup that lasted well into the afternoon. The varsity team eked out a victory, but not before the staff showed that they were heavy hitters in both limudei kodesh, and softballs.  Mincha followed the softball game, and the boys continued their afternoon of athletics and team-building for several more hours. It was a day well-spent, and I’m thrilled to have been a part of it. My only regret is that I won’t be there to watch the staff finally beat the varsity team on Lag B’Omer 2015.
