The Sacks-Herenstein Center is pleased to invite project proposals from all YU graduate school students (Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Study for Women, Katz School of Science and Health, Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies, Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, Sy Syms School of Business and Wurzweiler School of Social Work) for a year-long fellowship, focusing on scholarship, education, training and service.
The fellowship, honoring the memory of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, will provide Sacks Scholars with tools and resources to impact their respective fields through ethical leadership and innovation.
One student from each YU graduate program will be selected for the interdisciplinary cohort beginning in Fall 2022 and must commit to the following:
- Design and implement a project (with benchmarks to measure progress)
- Identify a faculty adviser to guide project development
- Publish an essay (3000-5000 words) on an ethical issue of concern related to one's field of study
- Participate in 8 virtual cohort leadership training seminars on topics including strategic thinking, public speaking and writing for impact
- Attend individualized professional coaching sessions
- Present his/her project at a symposium at the conclusion of the fellowship
