The Shevet Glaubach Center’s Industry Advisory Council

By Todd Lotcpeich Director of Employer Relations and Engagement Shevet Glaubach Center The Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development hosted the first two meetings of its Industry Advisory Council (IAC) during the fall 2021 semester. The IAC was formed by the Shevet Glaubach Center (SGC) over the past year and is comprised of a diverse group of successful alumni, friends of Yeshiva University, faculty, and administration. The purpose of the Council is to serve as an advisory body for the SGC and provide strategic support on how to accomplish the Center’s mission and main objectives. When creating the membership of the Council, key alumni and other individuals were selected from a broad range of industries and backgrounds due to their expertise in employment and industry trends, their history of supporting Yeshiva University and its students, and their desire to help the next generation of our community. Currently, the IAC has members from areas such as finance, health, management consulting, law, rabbinical studies, marketing, media, biotech, accounting, and many others. The IAC is led by two co-chairs, Eve Stieglitz (’07SB) and Adam Lauer (’07SB). Stieglitz, who currently serves as head of U.S. talent for SimilarWeb, says, “I’m honored to be a part of the IAC initiative by the Shevet Glaubach Center. Our council is made up of handpicked professionals and experts across a variety of industries that are truly best in class. The conversations, ideas and data collected are directly impacting the future success of Yeshiva University students and alumni and providing them with the resources, competitive edge and networks that will be invaluable to them in both the short and long term. I am grateful for the amazing leadership and collaboration of the SGC for growing this important initiative within the University.” Lauer, who is a principal at Apollo Global Management, adds, “We’re proud to be part of the IAC. The leadership team at the SGC has developed a forward-thinking approach to helping students chart their long-term career paths, aligning them to individual strengths and interests and plotting the initial steps towards reaching their goals. There’s a lot of buy-in from the IAC members for this approach, and we’re proud to be able to bring our experience to help inform students and advisors on the current hiring landscape as well as assist in the field to place or provide guidance to students where we can.” Susan Bauer, executive director of the SGC, had been receiving guidance and advice from our alumni employers since she began at YU in 2016. “The IAC is a formalized and curated group to provide a structured arena for our alumni who wish to help with career strategy and recruitment topics. These friends of YU have always been present and are now being officially recognized for their contributions as they continue to educate and support the team in the SGC, and the YU community at large, on the latest employer perspectives.” The IAC’s fall 2021 meetings focused on several important topics relevant to the University and its students. These included developing a better communication strategy to external constituents regarding the strength and dedication of our students; the current recruiting landscape and how employer initiatives, such as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), affect our community; and exploring ways to best advise students on graduate school timing and applications. Todd Lotcpeich, director of employer relations and engagement within the SGC, serves as the coordinator for the Council. “I am proud to be a part of such an amazing group of individuals and their dedication to ensuring both the students and SGC succeed is humbling. Our fall meetings were incredibly insightful and impactful, and I can’t wait to reconvene the group in the new semester to tackle the other challenges and opportunities presented to us,” Lotcpeich says.
