During his pre-selichot presentation in the Glueck Beit Midrash, Dr. Berman called upon each of us to consider two core values in our collective process of repentance. Our core of Torat Emet requires us to acknowledge the immutability of Torah, and that our past can make moral claims on our present. “Our core of Torat Chesed requires that we be caring and compassionate in the way we treat others within our communities. This season of self-reflection is a time for us to measure whether we live up to both of these ideals.”

Ferkauf’s Dr. Jeffrey Gonzalez gets a $3.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health for research on prediabetes in Black and Latino men.

The work of Ferkauf’s Dr. Jonathan Feldman studying panic attacks and asthma is cited as “offering important insight into panic-fear mechanisms.”

Stern College’s Dr. Joshua Waxman went to the Netherlands to present his work on data and Torah at a digital humanities conference.

Aaron Wright, Associate Clinical Professor of Law and director of the Cardozo Blockchain Project at Cardozo Law School, spoke with William Hinman, director of the Division of Corporate Finance at the Securities and Exchange Commission, on the regulation of digital securities (Forbes). Yeshiva University announced plans to open the Emil A. and Jenny Fish Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies (Jerusalem Post). Prof. Jessica Roth, co-director of the Jacob Burns Center for Ethics in the Practice of Law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, commented upon the college admissions scandal on MSNBC. Julie Golding, a PhD student at the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration and curator at the Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education in Suffern, New York, took part in a ceremony burying ashes of Holocaust victims found in the Museum’s archives (Jewish Standard).
