Jay Rosen Named as New Public Services and User Experience Librarian for Pollack Library

On August 30, 2021, Yeshiva University welcomed Pollack Library’s new Public Services and User Experience Librarian, Jay Rosen. Jay comes to us as a recent graduate of Pratt Institute’s School of Information, where he served as a Graduate Assistant in Pratt Libraries’ Public Services department. In this role, Jay provided on-site and virtual reference assistance to Pratt’s diverse community of students, researchers, and faculty, and developed instruction, research guides, video tutorials, and other learning materials supporting research skills and library resources. Before his time at Pratt, Jay served as an Intern at Brooklyn Public Library; as Membership and Marketing Coordinator at Literary Cleveland, where he oversaw literary arts programming and digital marketing; as Communications Coordinator at the Cleveland Heights Public Library system, where he developed and conducted targeted library outreach campaigns; and as a volunteer at New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman building, where he honed his public service skills. In addition to his work experiences, Jay also has a professional interest in library services to incarcerated people. Jay is a member of New York’s Prison Library Support Network and the author of “Evaluating Impact in the Forgotten Field of Prison Librarianship.” Jay also reviews manuscripts on prison library services for publications such as IFLA and Library Quarterly. An alumnus of Oberlin College, Jay earned dual degrees in English and philosophy and took music composition and production classes as well. As Public Services and User Experience Librarian, Jay will help the university refine its assessment of existing library programs and services, and will introduce new services informed by data and an analysis of student needs, abilities, and preferences. Jay will also contribute to Pollack Library’s instructional, social media, and outreach programs.
