Spring Finance Meet and Greet with YU Alumni

On Monday, May 6, 2019, the YU Career Center hosted its  first-ever “Spring Finance Meet & Greet.” This marked the first time that a specific finance recruiting-oriented event took place in the spring, which was in response to many of the firms’ accelerated summer 2020 internship timelines. The purpose of the event was to allow finance students the opportunity to meet with alumni from various financial firms and learn about how to apply, get feedback on and submit résumés, practice networking/interviewing and get an introduction to the “career fair” experience. In total, 51 students and 27 alumni attended this event. Firms represented included TD Securities, JP Morgan Chase, AxiomSL, Deutsche Bank, The Blackstone Group, Earnest Research, Bane Realty Capital, Epic Commercial Realty and several others. The YU Career Center noted that students arrived prepared, dressed appropriately and eager to network. We are hopeful for many positive outcomes from the event, such as follow up conversations between the students and alumni who attended. Todd Lotcpeich, director of employer and alumni relations, was pleased “to see so many alumni back on campus to share their knowledge of the financial industry and its recruiting practices with students. Events like this really make me appreciate the alumni community and the opportunities it provides our current students. I also give kudos to the students that took the initiative to attend and get a head-start on summer 2020 finance recruiting.”
