Jan 22, 2007 -- Information sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, January 31, in the Levy Commons on the Beren Campus, and Thursday, Feb. 1, in the Belfer Hall Sky Cafe on the Wilf Campus for Yeshiva University seniors interested in the Presidential Fellowship in University and Community Leadership. Now preparing for its fourth year, the Presidential Fellows program is part of a broader effort to train top graduates at the university and expand YU’s service to the Jewish community. The Fellows are chosen after an intense screening process based on their academic performance, leadership potential, and concern for the Jewish community. Each fellow will work with a senior administrator, who will serve as a mentor. Fellows will also participate in a leadership seminar for which they receive graduate credit. The Presidential Fellowship in University and Community Leadership provides graduates of Yeshiva College, Stern College for Women, and Sy Syms School of Business with an opportunity to give back to their alma mater. Yeshiva University undergraduates who will have completed all degree requirements by June 2007 are encouraged to apply. “The program takes our top graduates behind the scenes of the institution they have come to know so well as students,” said President Richard M. Joel, who conceived of the program. “My intention is to inspire these young people to develop leadership skills while drawing on their valuable experience as students.” Fellows will be involved in many aspects of university operations, will be responsible for special projects, and will have the opportunity to interact with university administrators, faculty, and invited academic and communal leaders. Fellows receive a salary of $24,000 plus benefits for the year.
