Gift to Cardozo to Aid Immigrants

The Wall Street Journal on Cardozo Alumna, Kathy Greenberg, and Her Mission to Fix the Immigration System Kathy Greenberg wants to tap law students to fill the gaps in the country's legal system. The public-interest lawyer is giving $500,000 to the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University to support the law school's immigration law clinic, which provides legal representation for indigent immigrants facing deportation. "We have a broken immigration system and a real need for qualified immigration lawyers with better training," says Mrs. Greenberg. "I was drawn to the school's commitment to the concept that every student and every lawyer must play a role in achieving justice for all, that students need to learn to consider legal rules as not mere abstractions but as having tangible impact on individuals."
