Faculty News: Tenured, New and Visiting Professors

Dr. Selma Botman, provost and vice president of academic affairs, welcomed the newest cohort of faculty at their orientation in August with hearty words of praise and inspiration for their new endeavors. The Office of the Provost also announced a number of tenures and promotions in recognition of the stellar work being done by the YU faculty.

Visiting Professors Noted novelist Dara Horn will be teaching a course this fall, “When Bad Things Happen to Good People: Divine Justice and Human Creativity,” sponsored by the Zahava and Moshael J. Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought. Sivan Rahav-Meir, Israeli journalist and World Mizrachi Distinguished Visiting Lecturer for the Center for Israel Studies, will broadcast a weekly shiur in Hebrew and English from the Israel Henry Beren campus as well as present lectures. Dr. Ari Bergmann, who holds a doctorate in comparative religion from Columbia University and is the founder and Managing Principal of Penso Advisors, LLC, a derivatives/systemic risk advisory and money management boutique, will be teaching “Rereading Talmud: Legal Sugyot” at the Isaac Breuer College of Hebraic Studies.
