The Rabbi Arthur Schneier Program for International Affairs is grateful to Rabbi Arthur Schneier’s vision and leadership in promoting human rights and international understanding. Our students had a unique opportunity recently to attend his yearly gathering for the Appeal of Conscience Foundation. Below is a short reflection by one our talented Stern College students who attended the dinner.

Reflections on the Appeal of Conscience Awards Dinner
By Elisheva Kohn ’21S
Rabbi Arthur Schneier was so kind as to invite Aharon Benchimol, a political science student from Venezuela, and me to the Appeal of Conscience's awards dinner in New York City.
On Sept. 23, 2019, we had the pleasure of joining together with diplomats, politicians, entrepreneurs and activists from around the world at the Pierre as we honored world leaders who are committed to religious freedom and global security. Aharon and I listened attentively as Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong highlighted his efforts to make the government system more inclusive, and as CEO of Deutsche Telekom, Timotheus Höttges, spoke about big data and the future of his company. We shook hands with Dr. Henry Kissinger, chatted with Consul General Danny Dayan and learned about unfamiliar online threats from Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube. During dinner, we had the opportunity to network with some of the guests and tell them about our experience at YU.
It was an honor to represent Yeshiva University at the Appeal of Conscience dinner. We are incredibly grateful to Rabbi Schneier for his hospitality and hope to meet him again soon.
