On Friday, November 13th, the MTA Mountain Lions Outdoors Club hiked in Sam's Point Preserve, part of Minnewaska State Park in the Catskills. Sam's Point is the highest peak in the Shawangunk range, affording a magnificent view for miles around. Also, there are the famous Ellenville Fault ice caves, which maintain their cold temperatures so well that even well into the summer ice can still be found there. The ice caves are the largest known open fault in the United States. Seventeen students were accompanied by Rabbi Tanchum Cohen, Mr. Sragow, and MTA alum Dov Fink. Everyone had a great time, enjoying the climb, the caves, and the magnificent vistas, as an exciting part of the yeshiva-wide Shabbaton.
