The MTA Lions started off their season with an away game at JEC this past Thursday night. The game began with a pre-game speech from Coach Marc Poleyeff, who quoted some famous Gemara passages and pumped the team up for the start of the season.
It didn't take long for MTA to find the back of the net when captain Zev Markowitz scored on a half court shot in the first 5 minutes of the game. The Lions controlled the rest of the the first period and, with a goal from Ezra Quint, went to the locker room up 2-0.
The second period saw Ami Rosenfeld score two goals and the score was 4-1 after 2. MTA dominated the third period as well, with Gavriel Mayer and David Boim each scoring, finishing off a hat trick for "Queens."
The game was coming to a close when coach Nachi Cooper called a strategic timeout to rest his players. He then gave a riveting speech to finish the game off. The Lions went home with a 6-1 victory and hope to build on that success next Wednesday when they play the Kushner Cobras in the Lion's Den.
