O’Malley Keynote Speaker at Conference

Seamus O'MalleyDr. Seamus O’Malley, assistant professor of English at Stern College for Women, was the keynote speaker at an international conference at the University of Rouen in Rouen, France, from Nov. 8-9, 2018, organized by the French Society of Woolf Studies (Société d’Études Woolfiennes), an organization dedicated to the study of the author Virginia Woolf. The theme of the conference was "Woolf and the Writing of History," and Dr. O'Malley was invited to speak because the theme of his book, Making History New: Modernism and Historical Narrative (Oxford University Press, 2014), aligned with the conference theme. His address focused on “Woolf and populism” because “I'm currently writing a book on Irish literature and populism, and so I wanted to see what would happen if we approached Woolf through the same lens.”
