Galantucci Delivers Keynote Talk on Experimental Semiotics

Bruno GalantucciDr. Bruno Galantucci, associate professor of psychology at Yeshiva College, gave a keynote talk at an international conference in Germany sponsored by University of Cologne titled “XPrag 2017,” otherwise known as the Seventh Biannual Experimental Pragmatics Conference.

The title of his talk was “Experimental Semiotics: What is it? What is it good for?” He explained how a new research approach for investigating human communication—experimental semiotics (ES)—can act as an engine of discovery for understanding human communication.

Using three case studies, he demonstrated how ES can used to question basic assumptions about human communicative behavior, test basic hypotheses about the design principles of human language and elaborate brand new hypotheses.
