The YU Honors Leadership Society is comprised of five distinguished cohorts of top-tier students - selected for their excellence and potential to shape the future.  Representing a diverse array of fields, our students are the visionaries and trailblazers of tomorrow.

The Masmidim Honors Scholars, for students in the Mazer Yeshiva Program (MYP, offers accelerated study and scholarship support to a small group of budding Torah scholars. Candidates are exceptional Honors students who demonstrate potential to become genuine talmidei chachamim.

Masmidim Honors maximizes each student’s potential through a structured rigorous learning schedule (covering 100 blatt of Gemara a year). Students enjoy mentorship opportunities and small cohorts of weekly seminars on topics of Jewish thought with senior Roshei Yeshiva. In their first year, talmidim learn the 13 Ikkarim with Rav Twersky.

Eligibility

  • Students must apply and be accepted to Yeshiva University Honors.
  • Candidates must participate in an oral bechina with Rabbi Hershel Schachter and Rabbi Twersky

  • Masmidim Scholars become the bedrock of the YU beit midrash, as students who are motivated to develop themselves and teach others.
  • Masmidim scholars meet with and learn with and from Yeshiva University and RIETS Roshei Yeshiva.
  • Students stay on campus twice a month for Shabbat, for Rosh Hashana through Yom Kippur, Shavuot, and the month of June – to maximize their time in Yeshiva.
