YU Accounting and Financial Planning Network
The YU Accounting & Financial Planning Network (YUAFPN)
provides opportunities for professionals in Accounting, Financial
Planning, and complimentary fields to learn about prevalent issues in
personal finance and how they are intertwined with Jewish law. Events
are run several times a year and offer an opportunity for members to
learn from industry experts and well known Rabbis on a variety of
different issues. The AFPN, which consists of hundreds of professionals
in the Greater New York area, has a mission to educate professionals,
alumni, and friends of YU. Another priority of AFPN is to give back to
the University by assisting students and young alumni who are interested
in pursuing careers in accounting and financial planning. Members of
AFPN currently work in top-tier financial service, accounting, and law
firms spanning a variety of different disciplines including: Financial
Planning, Investments, Asset Protection Strategies, Charitable Giving,
and Trust & Estate services.
The YU Accounting & Financial Planning Network, now in its second year, in partnership with the YU Alumni Affairs office, sponsors lectures covering the most pressing financial issues in the Jewish Community today. Previous topics included: "Halacha and Estate Planning: Creating a Legacy”, “Estate and Financial Planning for Chronic Illness”, “Post Graduation: Laying the Foundation for a Successful Financial Future” and “Optimizing Your Retirement Benefits—Social Security, Medicare and Pension Maximization” to name a few.
The YU Accounting & Financial Planning Network is also an excellent networking venue for alumni in the field and has led to mentoring, internship and job opportunities for current YU students. We invite you to join us.
