Advanced Certificate in Holocaust Education

Q&A and Coursework

The Advanced Certificate for Holocaust Education is uniquely designed for public and private school educators, administrators, and librarians in grades 6-12 who seek effective, age-appropriate methods and materials for teaching about the Holocaust.

Yeshiva University has the expertise in Holocaust studies and pedagogy to effectively and sensitively teach about what must be the foundation of Holocaust education: the Shoah from the perspective of the Jews who experienced it. Only in doing so will the next generation be able to build on an introduction to the multi-faceted Jewish communities and cultures that existed before they were destroyed and on an understanding of Jewish agency, resilience, defense, and defiance.

The 12-credit Advanced Certificate for Holocaust Education employs the resources and perspectives of Yeshiva University to ensure that public and private school teachers learn about this watershed in a manner that will enable them to feel secure in their teaching.

The program is an online based program. Students from all over North America are welcome to apply.

Graduates with an MA in Holocaust and Genocide Studies may expand their opportunities for working in a field that has emerged and grown over the last two decades. With education in Holocaust and Genocide Studies they may be able to seek a career in research, human rights advocacy, museology and education. They may find employment at a Holocaust museum or Holocaust Education Center, Jewish community centers, universities, human rights and genocide prevention organizations and more.
