Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

All eligible seniors are reminded to register to graduate as soon as possible.  The graduation application is available in the Office of the Registrar and online; https://www.yu.edu/registrar 

There is a $150 fee to be accompanied by the application, which can be paid to the Office of Student Finance in person or by phone at 212.960.5269. To be eligible for awards, students planning to graduate in September should also apply for graduation as soon as possible. 

Once you have registered for graduation your cap and gown will be ordered.   Undergraduate Cap and Gown Distribution events will be hosted on both Wilf and Beren.  Come with friends and take pictures in the photo booth! Take some time out of your day studying and enjoy some music and snacks! Please note: No attire will be given out on commencement day. If you are unable to pick up your academic attire on this day, contact The Office of Student Life. 

Cap & Gown Distribution on the Wilf Campus -- May 2nd, 11am-2pm in The Heights Lounge  

Cap & Gown Distribution on the Beren Campus-- May 4th, 11am-2pm in Yagoda Commons 

Each graduate will be guaranteed 7 tickets – 6 guest tickets and 1 ticket for the graduate themselves.   Ticketing information will be shared in the coming weeks.

Plan to enter through the 7th Avenue Arcade and Mall, located between 31st and 33rd Streets, adjacent to 2 Penn Plaza and proceed to Chase Square. 

Yes, the Madison Square Garden is a facility that is fully compliant with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). For more information visit: https://www.msg.com/madison-square-garden/disabled-services.  

In the ticket request form, there is an opportunity to make ADA requests, please let us know your requests in advance so we are prepared to accommodate. 

The graduates will be sitting in the front of the theater, at the base of the stage.  The women graduates will be seated on the right side and the men graduates will be seated on the left side of the venue. 

Photos taken by our photography vendor will be emailed out to each graduate a few weeks after the ceremony and will be available for purchase.   Many photos taken by University photographers will be posted on the University flickr account in the days following the ceremony. 

Yes. The University has arranged sign language interpreters, we will make every effort to accommodate each request with appropriate advance notice. Please email commencement@yu.edu  if you require this service so we can ensure you are seated closer to the interpreters.
