The study of foreign languages enriches you and sets you free. It empowers you to meet peoples and cultures from around the world (and sometimes even from the past) on their own terms.
Learning a new language allows you to travel with greater enjoyment and understanding. It can sharpen your knowledge of your native tongue. It can make you a more informed citizen of todays ever-shrinking, multicultural world. And familiarity with two or more languages is prized skill in many different professions, including finance, education, medicine and social work.
At Stern College for Women, Hebrew is taught under the auspices of the Rebecca Ivry Department of Jewish Studies. We also have offerings in French, Spanish, Arabic and Russian.
