Dr. Ruth Bevan is David W. Petegorsky Professor of Political Science at Yeshiva College. She specializes in European politics and contemporary political theory. Most recently she has published on the European Union and globalization. She has received awards from the Fulbright Commission and the National Endowment of the Humanities. She pursued graduate studies at the University of Freiburg, Germany as a fellow of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).and completed her Ph.D. at New York University, writing a comparative study on the relevance of Marx and Burke to 20th century politics. She was a National Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. During the Gorbachev years, she visited and brought supplies to refuseniks in the Soviet Union. She received an Irex (State Dept.) grant to interview Bulgarian Jews who were saved during the Holocaust. She has lectured extensively at colleges, synagogues and civic organizations on themes related to world politics.
