2019 Katz Commencement

  1. Is there a dress code for Commencement?
Graduating students and other ceremony participants must wear academic attire over their clothes. Most students wear professional attire, in recognition of the ceremony’s importance, but there is no official dress code.
  2. How do I get academic attire?
The Katz Student Life office orders academic attire for every student who submits the Application to Graduate on time. Students must pick up their attire from the Katz office before Commencement; more information about attire pickup will be provided in the spring semester.
  3. Are guests’ seats assigned?
Sections are assigned, but specific seats are not. Guests are free to sit in any chair within their ticketed section on a first-come, first-served basis.
  4. What time should I be at Commencement?
Graduating students must arrive one hour before the ceremony starts. Doors will open for guests 30 minutes before the ceremony starts; the venue cannot accommodate guests who arrive before the doors open.
  5. Will food be served?
A reception with desserts and drinks will take place after the ceremony. Graduating students and their friends and family should have lunch before arriving.
  6. When will I receive my diploma?
Your diploma will be mailed to you approximately 6 weeks after your official graduation date. For example, if you are finishing your degree at the end of the Summer semester, your graduation date will be at the end of August, so you can expect to receive your diploma in mid-October. If your address changes, contact the registrar’s office.
  7. I’m graduating with an associate degree from the Katz School. Which ceremony should I attend?
Students completing undergraduate degrees (associate and bachelor’s) will participate in the Yeshiva University Eighty-Ninth Annual Commencement Exercises, which will take place at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Visit www.yu.edu/commencement for more information.
