Associate Professor and Chair of Biology
Professor Sumanta Goswami received his PhD in biochemistry at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. After conducting postdoctoral research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he became an assistant professor in the biology department of Yeshiva College in 2006. He also has a secondary appointment in the department of anatomy and structural biology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
His teaching interests include teaching animal physiology, cancer biology, immunology, and stem cells. His research is on identification of biomarkers that can predict metastasis, drug, and radio resistance in breast cancer patients; targeting micro-metastasis in breast cancer; and identification and characterization of breast cancer stem cells.
He received the Best Poster Award at the 3rd Tumor Progressive and Therapeutic Resistance Conference.
Since joining Yeshiva College, Dr. Goswami has published 15 papers in the best scientific journals along with his students and his collaborators.
