Dr. Chaya R. Gorsetman is a Clinical Associate Professor of Education and Co-chair of the Education Department at Stern College for Women of Yeshiva University. She specializes in supervision of student teachers and curriculum studies with a strong emphasis on constructivist theory of education. She is the Educational Director of the Educational Leadership Advancement Initiative of the Lookstein Center of Bar Ilan University and in that capacity she has mentored those in school leadership positions.
An educational consultant who has presented workshops on curriculum development in both Judaic and general subjects, as well as the integration of these subjects; she has led numerous seminars in effective communication between teachers and children and has facilitated parent workshops. Additionally she is interested in how gender is expressed in day schools and as such served as the director and co-author of the JOFA Gender and Orthodoxy Curriculum Project, Bereshit: A New Beginning--A Differentiated Approach to Learning and Teaching. Dr. Gorsetman lectures frequently on constructivist theory in early education. She is a member of the Israel International Research Group in Jewish Education in the Early Years.
She served as the director and co-author of the JOFA Gender and Orthodoxy Curriculum Project, Bereshit: A New Beginning—A Differentiated Approach to Learning and Teaching. At the 6th International Conference of the Israel Association for Research in Jewish Education, she delivered a paper on the topic of “Learning to Mentor and Mentoring to Learn.” She is also a coauthor of TALES FROM THE FIELD: ANECDOTES AND REFLECTIONS ON GENDER IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION. More recently she co-authored a book, Educating in the Divine Image Gender Issues in Orthodox Jewish Day Schools, published October 2013, Hadassa Brandies, winner of the National Jewish Book Award 2013. She is a member of the Israel International Research Group in Jewish Education in the Early Years
Co-authored peer reviewed research article to The Early Childhood Special Edition of the Journal of Jewish Education, Involvement of an outside Expert in School Change.
