MEET DEAN RAJI VISWANATHAN
Dr. Raji Viswanathan, Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry at Yeshiva College, has accepted a three-year position as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
Dr. Viswanathan joined Yeshiva College in 1991 after her Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University and post-doctoral fellowships at Rice University and Princeton University. The Chemistry Department at Yeshiva College has developed into a strong research active department under her leadership.
Dr. Viswanathan¹s research interests are in the areas of electronic structure and molecular reaction dynamics. Her recent contributions have been in understanding the nature of hydrogen bonding in peptide models, and more recently between inorganic metal complexes and solvent molecules. Currently 3 undergraduate students are working in her research group. Dr. Viswanathan has been the recipient of several prestigious research fellowships including summer fellowships funded by the Petroleum Research Foundation and the National Science Foundation. She is the author of more than 25 articles in prestigious journals in the area of physical chemistry.
