This course will be given by the Social Work Examination Services (SWES) from Brookline, Massachusetts that has been preparing students to take state licensing examinations for many years. The course will prepare graduates to take the NYS licensing examination as well as other state exams since the exam is a national exam provided through the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB).  California does not use the ASWB exam, and students from Connecticut will not be required to take the exam until they have achieved two years of full-time clinical practice.  All other states require licensure immediately after graduation with the MSW.

SWES offers a two-day seminar starting at 9:00 AM both days and ending at 5 PM on the first day and 3:00 PM on the second day.  The emphasis of their program is on test-taking strategies using the kinds of multiple-choice questions likely to appear on the exam.  They will address content issues as well as test-taking skills.  Students will be encouraged to continue to use the study guide provided to practice with the numerous multiple choice questions.  Practice with the questions should reduce anxiety about the test, while helping to develop the skills needed to pass.

Each student registered in the course will receive a copy of SWES’s two-volume study guide.  The guide consists of 1600 sample questions with complete explanations for each question, as well as a review of major content areas.  Other materials, including a brief practice test and handouts will be supplied at the course.

The SWES course is an expensive undertaking for Wurzweiler, and we are asking each student and alumni to pay $150.00 to defray the cost of offering this licensing prep course.

Please note that any emails/receipts for registration will not contain class dates/time .
