How Financial Need is Determined

Financial need is the difference between Yeshiva University's cost of attendance  (including living expenses), and the EFC (Expected Family Contribution), according to the information reported on FAFSA.

Most need-based aid packages consist of grants, low-interest loans, and work study awards and are awarded for one academic year at a time.

Scholarships, loans and grants are awarded in the form of credits against the cost of attendance which will appear on the statement sent US mail prior to the beginning of each semester.

Students are eligible for student aid for up to five full years.

HELPFUL HINTS

  • Since the aid package is not automatically renewed, one must apply for it each year. Without a current application on file, the Student Aid staff cannot award (or even estimate) financial aid. THIS INCLUDES LOANS!
  • Renewal FAFSA will be sent to you by the U.S. Department of Education in November.  If you have not received a Renewal FAFSA by January 1st, you should obtain a blank application. Please email or call us for assistance.
