Dr. Norman Lamm 1976-2003
Dr. Norman Lamm, a distinguished rabbi, philosopher, teacher, and author, was elected president of Yeshiva University in August of 1976, succeeding Dr. Samuel Belkin and Dr. Bernard Revel.

Dr. Samuel Belkin 1943-1975
Dr. Samuel Belkin, elected president in 1943 and inaugurated a year later, developed the university's philosophy of synthesis with a broad academic and physical expansion program.

Dr. Bernard Revel 1915-1940
Dr. Bernard Revel pioneered Yeshiva University's ideological mission of Torah Umadda, the concept of a successful, creative synthesis of the study of Torah and the arts and sciences.

Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik 1941-1993
Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik — known as the Rav — was one of the twentieth century’s most preeminent and influential Jewish scholars.
