The Quest Leadership Fellowship trains and inspires undergraduate students to better themselves as leaders and take an active role in the Jewish communal landscape. The 2013 Quest cohort recently returned from a four-day mission to Washington, D.C., where they implemented their leadership and advocacy skills through a variety of hands-on experiences. The mission gave Questers the opportunity to put into practice the valuable skills they developed through the fellowship. Quest is run under the auspices of the Yeshiva University Office of Student Life.

The group delivered meals to the homeless in partnership with Jconnect, a nonprofit providing support services to those in need in the D.C. area. They met with leaders of a cross-section of Jewish communities who also graciously hosted them for Shabbos. The students learned about the history of Jewish communal leadership in European the Holocaust Museum. As student advocates, they lobbied in Congress on behalf of Israel in support of a defense appropriation bill and discussed the serious concerns about the relationship between America and Iran. The experiences enhanced the Quest student leaders’ sense of responsibility for their local Jewish communities, the global Jewish people and the global population as a whole. This commitment will continue to make an impact in their communities and beyond for years to come.
