    Note: These overview sessions are not designed as hands-on training sessions. These are general overview sessions on each of the designated topics.

  • Banner Finance Overview

    Description: This program will provide attendees with an overview of the Banner Finance module with concentration on the Chart of Accounts and Banner Finance Self Service functionality.

    Audience: The target audience for this overview includes any individual who will transact business (i.e., process requisitions and/or purchase orders, prepare travel reimbursements, etc.) and be responsible for budgets, operating, sponsored research or otherwise. Therefore this can include budget managers, departmental administrators, principal investigators and clerical staff.

    Banner Grants Overview (Sponsored Research Administration)

    Description: This program will outline the life cycle of a sponsored program while highlighting best practices, as well as business process changes. It will also provide guidance for upcoming training sessions and where to go for post-go-live support.

    Audience: If you currently administer or assist in administering a Sponsored Program (Grant or Contract), please register for one of the sessions.

    Banner Procure-to-Pay Overview

    Description: This session will give you an overview of the Procure-to-Pay process in the new Banner SciQuest environment. This session is intended for anyone involved in the purchasing, payment and reimbursement process. Topics include: What will change, SciQuest Roles, a system overview, a sneak peek at the SciQuest dynamic workflow, and information about upcoming training and support.

    Audience: Current shoppers, requestors and approvers for purchased goods or services should attend.

    Banner HR/Payroll Information Session

    Description: You will gain an understanding of the benefits of the HR system, receive an overview of how the employment life cycle will work within Banner and third-party systems (i.e., Kronos), and learn the differences between a labor redistribution and labor distribution.

    Audience: The session is intended for departmental managers and departmental administrators who oversee and approve Job Requisition and Employment Status Requests within YESS.

  • Banner Finance Self-Service Training (NEW SESSIONS AVAILABLE!)

    Description: This program will demonstrate how to navigate through Banner to access financial information; and how to manage a budget, download data and peruse detailed transactions at the click of a button.

    Audience: The target audience for this training includes any individual who will transact business (i.e., process requisitions and/or purchase orders, prepare travel reimbursements, etc.) and be responsible for budgets, operating or sponsored research.

    Banner Finance: Chart of Accounts Training

    Description: This program will delve deeper into the Chart of Accounts configuration and review the key elements of Fund, Organization, Account, Program, Activity, and Location. A key feature of this training will be the introduction of a Cross Walk that will provide end users with a quick reference tool comparing Legacy General Ledger elements to the Banner Chart structure.

    Audience: The target audience for this training includes any individual who will transact business (i.e., process requisitions and/or purchase orders, prepare travel reimbursements, etc.) and be responsible for budgets, operating, sponsored research or otherwise. This can include budget managers, departmental administrators, principal investigators and clerical staff.

    Banner Finance: Finance Help Drop-in Workshops

    Description: These workshops will give you an opportunity for hands-on, small-group support with a subject matter expert. Please bring any necessary information and/or materials with you to complete work with Banner Finance.

    Audience: All employees who have current projects to complete in Banner Finance.

    Banner Grants: Budget Transfers

    Description: During this workshop we will demonstrate the Budget Transfer tool in Banner Self Service. There is a detailed simulation training available, Budget Transfer. Feel free to bring your own budget transfers and we can perform them jointly in Production during this workshop.

    Audience: If you currently administer or assist in administering a Sponsored Program (Grant or Contract) and need to perform Budget Transfers, please register for the session.

    Banner Grants: Establishing Project Accounts

    Description: This training will outline Banner Award Set-up process including details on our Fund Hierarchy. It will also describe Banner Award Modifications and demonstrate the Budget Transfer tool in Banner Self Service. It will also provide guidance for upcoming training sessions and where to go for post go-live support.

    Audience: If you currently administer or assist in administering a Sponsored Program (Grant or Contract), please register for one of the sessions.

    Banner Grants: Intercompany Billing

    Description: This session illustrates the steps involved to process transactions for Intercharges formerly done in JESA/JACADA. It is encouraged users take the eLearning session in the eLearning Center prior to taking this training session, click here to view, http://training.yu.edu/gm/folder-1.11.3977?originalContext=1.11.3109 . You should only sign up for one session. At the training session we will provide a brief demonstration and request Intercompany Billers bring some examples of their journals for hands-on guidance.

    Audience: Individuals with the role of Intercompany Biller in Banner INB (Internet Native Banner).

    Banner Grants: OBIEE Workshop

    Description: This workshop will go over the basics of the Net Free Balance Report. This is a hands-on workshop. Please bring your user ID and password.

    Audience: if you have a need to run grants-related reports from Banner.

    Banner Grants: Self-Service Labor Redistribution

    Description: During this training, we will go through the Banner Self-Service Labor Redistribution Manual. A demonstration of the tool will be shown. Hands-on practicing in our test environment will be available. Space is limited; please register for the session that will prompt our next step to obtain your access to the testing environment for the hands-on practicing.

    WORKSHOPS are for those who have taken the Labor Redistribution Training, but would like some assistance while performing the first few in production.  Please bring your work.

    Audience: If you currently administer or assist in administering labor distribution via EPAFs, this session will review the steps necessary to make a retroactive labor redistribution. Please register for the session.

    Banner Grants: Spending Money, Purchasing and Cost Transfers

    Description: This training will outline Banner Spending Money and Purchasing methods. It will detail the changes to our Cost Transfer procedures. It will also provide guidance for upcoming training sessions and where to go for post go-live support.

    Banner Grants: Time and Effort Workshop

    Description: Time and Effort Workshops will be offered to supplement the following materials found in the Banner Grants section of the eLearning Center:

    • Banner Effort Certification User Guide
    • Banner Effort Certification Pre-Reviewer Checklist
    • Banner Effort Certification Certifier Checklist

    The workshops will be 1.5 hour sessions highlighting the steps involved to Pre-Review Effort Forms in Banner.

    Audience: Any staff member who is responsible for Time and Effort transactions in Banner.

    Banner Human Resources: Electronic Personnel Action Form (EPAF) and iCIMS Training

    Description: These recordings give you instruction on how to complete transactions with iCIMS and EPAFs. Please review the Employment Life Cycle: Introduction to EPAF and iCIMS training prior to viewing this training.

    Audience: Administrators who complete personnel action requests.

    Banner Human Resources: Employment Life Cycle: Introduction to EPAF and iCIMS

    Description: This training will serve as an overview of the employee life cycle and the systems being utilized to manage employee records throughout it. Administrators/managers will learn how to utilize iCIMS as our requisitioning system for new or replacement staff, faculty and student positions (replacing the currently used PRF). Additionally, we will train users to originate and approve Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs), which are used to manage employee records during their entire life cycle.

    Audience: The session is intended for departmental managers and departmental administrators who oversee and approve Job Requisition and Employment Status Requests within YESS.

    Data Standards and Banner Functionality

    Description: This course will cover the basics of Banner record creation and update from the standpoint of achieving compliance with the mandatory university data standards for Banner. Also included is a detailed “how-to” for Common Matching, other Banner searches, and Clean Address. In addition, issues such as managing “duplicate” records and record ownership will be addressed.

    Audience: Anyone who is responsible for updating names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses and other biographical data in Banner. This course would also be useful for someone who supervises an employee responsible for Banner data entry.

    MaccaBuy (SciQuest) Approver Training

    Description: MaccaBuy (SciQuest) “hands-on” training that explains how to electronically review/edit and approve purchase requisitions within the delegated purchasing authority.

    Audience: Current MaccaBuy (SciQuest) Approvers (typically the department administrator, principal investigator, budget manager or department head).

    Description: MaccaBuy (SciQuest) “hands-on” training that explains how to initiate the electronic purchase of goods and services by shopping and creating a “cart.” Each session is only 1 and ½ hours and includes instruction and a Q&A period.

    Audience: Current MaccaBuy (SciQuest) Requestors.
