Dr. Abraham Givner is professor and program director ofthe APA-accredited and NASP-approved combined School-Clinical Child Psychology Program, PsyD.
Givner joined the faculty in 1972 after receiving his doctorate in educational psychology from Yeshiva University, in 1971. He holds the Ferkauf-Silverstein Chair in School Psychology at Yeshiva University. He completed a post-doctoral program in behavior therapy with Joseph Wolpe and one year of a post-doctoral training program at the C.G. Jung Institute.
Givner is a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey, a certified school psychologist in New York and a nationally certified school psychologist. He is on the Advisory Committee to New York City Department of Education’s Psychologist-in-Training Program.
He is a founding member and the treasurer for the Consortium of Combined-Integrated Doctoral Programs in Psychology and has been appointed to APA’S Council of Chairs of Training Councils (CCTC).
His research focuses on issues related to combined graduate training models, professional research models and, most recently, to the relationship of spirituality, religiosity on psychological factors. He has directed an almost decadelong training grant funded by the Beker family to provide school psychological services to community day schools
