    How do I create an account for photocopying or printing?


    If you are a YU student or faculty member you already have an account with a free balance and you may proceed to copy or print.  Your account name is your YU computer User Name.  If you "create" a new account here, this account will not be linked to your existing account. If you have used up your free balance you may add value to your account.  

    Others: create an account at the kiosk.

         Go to one of the two computer screens on the wall in the photocopying room on level 2 of the Pollack Library at the Wilf Campus or the North Wing of the Hedi Steinberg Library at the Beren Campus.
         Press CREATE ACCOUNT.
         Fill in the boxes. Make sure to remember your account name and password.
            Your account number must have at least 6 characters.
            Your account name must have at least 10 characters.
         Press CREATE ACCOUNT.
         Insert bill(s) into the bill acceptor.
         Press DONE when finished.

     

    How do I add value to my account?


         Go to one of the two computer screens on the wall in the photocopying and printing room on level 2 of the Pollack Library at the Wilf Campus or   on the first floor of the Hedi Steinberg Library at the Beren Campus.      Touch the screen to wake it up if necessary.
         Press VIEW ACCOUNT.
         Press to call up the keyboard to enter your account name. Press ENTER when you finish typing.
         Press to call up the keyboard to enter your password. Press ENTER when you finish typing.
         Press VALIDATE THIS ACCOUNT.
         Press ADD FUNDS TO THIS ACCOUNT.
         Insert your money.  The machine takes bills only, $1 through $20, and does not make change.  Watch to see that the money you insert registers.
         Press DONE.

    How do I photocopy?


        Place your original in the proper place on the photocopier, in the feeder or on the glass at the large green arrow.
        Go to the keypad on the right of the machine.
        Press ENTER. To change between letters and numbers on the keypad press the button at bottom left.
        Enter your ACCOUNT NAME and press OK.
        Enter your password and press OK.
        Press MAKE A COPY.
        Make photocopying choices, e.g., number of copies, on the photocopier.
        Press the START button on the photocopier.
        Press the START button again for the next copy and so on. You have two minutes to make another copy before you will be timed out.
        When you have finished making copies, make sure to press EXIT on the keypad. Otherwise your account remains active for two minutes and could possibly be used by another patron.

    How do I make two-sided photocopies?


        Follow steps 1 through 7 under How do I photocopy.
        Under 2 Sided Copy on the panel of the photocopier, press 1-2 sided.
        Press the START button on the photocopier.
        If you placed your original on the glass of the photocopier, turn it over or turn the page when the photocopier indicates it is ready to scan the next page.
        Continue with steps 9 and 10 under How do I photocopy.

    How do I print?


        Click on FILE and then click on PRINT or click on the printer icon when appropriate, e.g., when printing PDFs.
        Choose a printer: HP-Printers or Xerox Copier Printer, or COLOR-HP for color prints.
        Make your selection in the Page range and Number of copies fields.
        Click on Print.
        WAIT until the blue logon screen appears.
        Enter your account name and press OK.
        Enter your password and press OK.
        Description BOX. This is your job name. You may accept what is in the box, or, you may give your job a name of your choosing. Remember your job name.
        Click on Send to Print Release Station.
        If you sent your job to a XEROX copier, go to one of the copiers in the Library.
        Press ENTER on the keypad at the right of the machine.
        Enter your account name as you did on the computer and press OK.
        Enter your password as you did on the computer and press OK.
        Press PRINT JOBS. Select your job(s). Press the box at the left of the job(s) name(s).
        Press PRINT.  
    If you are in the Gottesman Library Building and you sent your job to an HP printer, go to a release station outside the copy room on level 2 or near the printer on level 3A or level 5A.
        Enter your account name and password as you did on the computer.
        Select your job(s).
        Click Print.
        Pick up your job at the HP printer.
    If you are in the Hedi Steinberg Library in the North Wing, the HP printer is adjacent to the Reserve Desk. In the second floor library, use the Xerox copier printer.
        If you have used up your free balance you may add money to your account at one of the computer screens on the wall in the photocopying and printing room on level 2 of the Pollack Library at the Wilf Campus or the North Wing of the Hedi Steinberg Library at the Beren Campus.

    How do I print in color?


        Follow the directions above for HOW DO I PRINT with the following change:
        For number 2 above: select COLOR-HP printer.

    How do I make two-sided prints?


        Click on FILE and then click on PRINT, or click on the printer icon when appropriate, e.g., when printing PDFs.
        Click on the printer of your choice.
        Make choices of page range and number of copies.
        Click on PREFERENCES.
        For the XEROX COPIER change 1 Sided Print to 2 Sided Print; for the HP printers click on Printing Shortcuts, then click on Two-sided (Duplex) Printing.
        Click on OK.
        Continue with steps 3 through 10 under How do I print.

    How can I produce a scan?


    Two types of scanning equipment are provided for you at the libraries:

    You may scan your original documents to produce jpeg images, pdfs or text at scanning stations in the North Wing of the Hedi Steinberg Library and on the second floor of the Pollack Library in the Mendel Gottesman Library Building. Please come prepared with a flash drive or CD on which to save your scans. (If you forget you will be able to purchase a CD at the Library Desk.)  Ask a Librarian for help.

    You may produce scans from microforms at the microform scanning stations on the second floor and fifth floor in the Mendel Gottesman Library Building. Follow directions provided at the microfilm scan stations.

    Do not hesitate to request assistance from library staff as you learn to use the scanners.
