Information Technology Services (ITS) offers a Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution so users can remotely access on-campus resources that would otherwise be inaccessible from off-campus locations, such as from home or while traveling. Some examples of resources that would require VPN access include visiting intranet web sites such as the Purchase Order System and Banner, accessing an office computer, using administrative and research systems and servers, or providing remote access to vendors or consultants to systems or servers. As we continue to enhance the campus network security, additional resources may be limited to on-campus and VPN access only.
VPN allows users to remotely access restricted network resources via a secure and authenticated pathway by encrypting all network traffic. This protects any information transmitted to or from the user’s remote computer and the on-campus system, and gives the appearance that the user is on the YU network, regardless of geographic location.
Any request for VPN access should be submitted to ITS using the Request Form.
